Jason Yudoff is a dynamic and versatile self-taught musician from Brooklyn who interprets the rhythms of life through percussion, drum kit, keyboards, street objects, household items, and his own body.
Throughout Jason’s unique career, he has played everything from cajon at Carnegie Hall, to congas for President George W. Bush at an Inaugural Ball in Washington, D.C., to timbales on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. He has set the pace with un-amplified body percussion at New York’s historic Town Hall, banged oil drum barrels on a barge in Brooklyn for the nationally-televised Macy's July 4th Fireworks Spectacular, and busked on buckets in the New York City subways. He's jammed with broomsticks at the Zakharef In Motion worldwide dance festival for the US Embassy in Amman, Jordan, digital mallets and toms at the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal, spatulas for 10,000 rowdy Taco Bell employees in the Nashville Arena, 8 foot long 2X4's and a custom-built junkyard drum kit for 12,000 folks in Medellin, Colombia for Pilsen Beer, a PVC tube drum kit for 20,000 Microsoft enthusiasts in the Seattle Kingdome, and helped launch the Panasonic 'Toughbook' by drum soloing on the laptop for 100,000+ tech people at the CeBIT Convention in Hanover, Germany. Jason's rhythms, adaptability and stage presence have connected him to audiences all over the world.
Jason performed internationally as the 1st American performer in the Australian hit tap/rock show TapDogs, which is still touring worldwide. After years with The Rhythmics & Livelab, he became a founding member of theatrical/industrial drum/dance groups New York Song & Dance Company, Industrial Rhythm, and Midtown Productions. He has shared the stage with such luminaries as Dennis DeYoung, Jimmy Buffet, 3 Doors Down, Ryan Adams, Fuel, Hilary Duff, Chita Rivera, Ann Margaret, Misty Copeland, Ben Vereen, and Phylicia Rashad among others while performing at Madison Square Garden, Radio City Music Hall, Tribeca Film Festival, US Open, Dance Hall of Fame and countless other venues for huge conglomerates like Coca-Cola, Taco Bell, Samsung, etc.
On cajon, Jason provides a controllable 'kit in a box' sound that's perfect for recording and backing acoustic artists, theatre performances and dance companies. He’s played at Carnegie Hall with New York Song & Dance Company, accompanied 'Orange Is The New Black' stars Jackie Cruz and Taryn Manning, award-winning indie singer/songwriter Vital E, Shepard The Breeze, Gotham Rock Choir, TSG, and #Taplife, among other NYC artists.
Also an actor who co-starred on FOX's Gotham this season, Jason has live-hosted and delivered key product information and dialogue for many technological and pharmaceutical companies while drumming at conventions and industrials worldwide for conglomerates like Canon, Olympus, and Bristol-Myers Squibb. He has created drum/tap corporate shows for Pfizer and Symbol Technologies, and has shared the stage with some of the world's best tap dancers including Jared Grimes, Jason Samuels Smith, Ayodele Casel, Noah Racey, DeWitt Fleming, Melinda Sullivan, Dule Hill, Jimmy Sutherland and many more. Jason is also proud to have originated a role in Noah Racey's PULSE at the Asolo Theatre in Sarasota, FL, where he was featured on cajon, congas, timbales, body percussion, keyboards, and as a singer and actor. He reunited with Noah and pianist/musical director Ross Patterson in 2018 to create a soundtrack for the theatrical show Noah Racey Project at Symphony Space.
Jason is available for session and studio work, corporate functions, high end events (can refer incredible Emcee’s and DJ's), weddings, bar mitzvahs, clubs, live performances with original bands and singer/songwriters, tap dancers, or choral or drum groups. He loves original projects, offers body percussion tutorials and master classes.
An accomplished singer/songwriter whose 2 studio albums Smoke Sex Water and Tragic Hero were selected to the Official Grammy Ballots in a combined 12 categories including 'Album Of The Year' and 'Best New Artist', he also offers songwriting coaching and collaboration, original keyboard work and strong lead/backup vocals with easy, intuitive harmonies. He travels light, keeps it zen, has a quick wit, and continues to search for his place in the groove.
