On July 30th, Jason performed at the Town Hall Summer Broadway Festival, among a cast of performers that had a collective 171 Broadways shows under their belt! The All Singin' All Dancin' Evening was directed and choreographed by Noah Racey, star of the B'way shows Never Gonna Dance, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Follies, and, currently, Curtains. Bodyrocking a samba groove, Variety summed up the routine this way: "But the evening's show stopper was set to Cole Porter's "I've Got You Under My Skin," with Joyce Chittick assisted by a quintet of finger-snapping, hip-slapping guys for a long and steamy tap ballet that brought the cheering house to its feet." To read the entire review, click here. Clearly the highlight routine of the evening, Richard Kind (Spin City, Mad About You) went so far as to say "It was one of the best routines I have EVER seen on the stage. I will remember it for the rest of my life I had tears of joy in my eyes because I just couldn't believe it could be like that." Thanks to Noah, Kevin, Luke, David, Joyce, Emily and Sarah for the hard work and the good times.
Jason traveled to Medellin, Colombia for a show with the group RYTHYM ROX in late February. This live industrial for Pilsen Beer was performed at an outdoor venue for over 9,000 people, with a 4-story scaffold set and full-on industrial lighting. Laying down the soundtrack with bassist Freddie Simpson, J rocked a drum set made of buckets, jugs, beer kegs, hubcaps, crates, metal scaffolding, and other assorted odds and ends. Thanks to Zulu and the crew for hooking up the sickest kit south of the equator Produced by CRW Prouctions, directed by Bill Castellino and hosted by Miss Colombia, throw in 8 crazy tappers/drummers, 2 translators, 24-hour private security guards (you're the man, Rafael!), a casino, strip club (or was it?), plenty of Argentinean beef, and a minor issue with hotel security and you've got yourself quite an experience!
